Development in Partnership Programme 2006/7

Aims of the Programme

The Development in Partnership (DiP) programme is a unique and exciting experience designed to be a master class for promising young leaders offering the opportunity to broaden their skills and experience through a shared learning and development experience.

The programme consists of six sessions that focus on key business areas that are both topical and relevant bringing together a number of delegates from each of the participating companies. For the right candidates it will rapidly increase their perspective and contacts through personal networking opportunities, both within and outside their organisations and aims to ensure the learning is brought to life by making relevant connections to industry.

Many companies have come to regard DiP as a key part of their leadership development delivering tangible business benefits. It is much more than a training course and offers an excellent platform for companies to develop their greatest assets through a very structured and highly focused programme but also to provide the candidates with the necessary personal network and team working opportunities within various industries that will help maximize their potential.

Overview of Sessions

The six formal sessions are usually two days except the final session which will be longer, dependant on the location. A week should be assumed. To increase the participation and ownership, delegates undertake group project work and presentations in cross company teams.

The time commitment between sessions should be targeted at two days project work to ensure their focus is maintained. Due to the packed programme and the geographical spread of the participants most sessions require delegates to attend the evening before to present their project presentations.

The sessions are designed to challenge and fully engage the participants. This is accomplished by the use of subject experts and augmented by people with key roles and experience to share from within the industry, often from the participating companies.

We also involve senior leaders from within their respective organisations to speak and who can make the learning relevant and real time. High quality professional trainers using traditional training are used as well as experiential learning techniques.

All applicants and their managers are expected to fully commit to the delegate being available to attend all DiP sessions once a place has been accepted. It has been agreed that the line manager will include the programme as part of the delegate’s personal objectives as a mechanism to monitor progress and give support. For delegates to assess their availability, the dates are scheduled as follows. The venue is to be confirmed but will be central UK and easily accessible for most people.

Session 1 - Introduction to the Programme, Leadership and Advanced Communication Skills

Session 2 – Corporate Strategy and Personal Career Planning

Session 3 – Finance and Shareholder Value

Session 4 – Accelerated Implementation of Change

Session 5 - Business Management Workshop

Session 6 - Business Opportunities, Final Project Presentations and DiP Learning Review

The cost per delegate is £3,800.00 plus VAT, delegates are also responsible for their own accomodation and expense payments when attending the Master Classes.
