Why should I attend the Communicating Magnificently 2-day workshop?
No matter what you do in life the ability to communicate and present yourself powerfully and clearly will always be a benefit. Why is it that some people present with energy, passion, poise and grace and yet others do not? Did you ever see a Magnificent Presenter or Communicator and think, "I wish I could do that", well now you can!
What will I learn During the Communicating Magnificently 2-day workshop?
The biggest mistake most people make is believing that a presentation is something you give to a group of people using PowerPoint.
A presentation is ANY TIME you want to get your thoughts, opinions, or ideas across to other people. This can be a formal presentation, a meeting, a five-minute chat, a quick question, e-mail or a telephone conversation.
Have you ever had people misinterpret what you say, not take action when you thought you were explicit on what they should do, or have other people taken credit for your ideas, then you are not getting your message across and the way you are currently communicating isn’t working.
There are a lot of presentation courses out there. What are some things I should look for?
A magnificent presentation course goes beyond merely telling you the basics of structure and not to " jingle your change" or how to stand.
A magnificent presentation MOVES the audience to a different "state" on both an emotional and logical level before you start to speak and after you finish. This means you have to learn how to manage all four aspects of a presentation- how people see you, how they hear you, how you say your message and how you deliver your message.
You want a Communication and Presentation skills course that will show you:
- How to disengage nervousness and performance anxiety.
- How to maintain a calm, centred and balanced presenter state.
- How to quickly and easily build rapport with groups of any size.
- How to influence and change your audience’s state of mind from moment to moment.
- How to handle difficult questions and people.
- How to use metaphors, anecdotes, analogies and nested loops to maximise the impact of your presentation or communication.
- How to create, manage and maintain energy in the room.
- How to develop your personal style and magnetism.
- How to use your body posture, gestures and voice intonation to deliver your message with energy, charisma and impact.
- How to read your audience's body language and thought processes so you know how they are thinking.
- How to design a presentation or communication that works for all learning styles.
- How to take control of an audience then direct, influence, inspire and motivate them to take action.
- How to set up unconscious "Anchors" to maximise the impact of your presentation or communication.
- How to entertain your audience and add fun to your presentation even when communicating complicated or technical information.
- How to manage all the communication styles in the room so each person receives the same message.
In designing this workshop we have taken into consideration that delegates attending may want to focus on specific areas of their own personal development and for this reason we ask delegates to complete a pre-course questionnaire prior to attending. This gives each person the time to consider their desired outcomes (goals) these are reviewed at the start of day one and throughout the workshop to ensure each person gets what they want from the workshop.

Who should attend the Communicating Magnificently Workshop?
Let me give you a few industries and how they each have benefited from learning how to utilise the Communicating Magnificently Workshop.
Executive Management You cannot expect to lead if you cannot clearly state your message and compel people to follow that vision. As a leader you need people to have trust, accountability, and respect. You need to know that what you communicate to the media, the board, the managers and the front line all aligns with your vision and mission. Consistency is key here when communicating as well as the ability to think and speak on your feet. We will show you how to make your message strong, clear, and consistent from your voice and words to your body language.
Sales - In today’s sales environments you don't have time to slowly build up to the sale yet you also have the conflict that customers have a lot of knowledge and hate to be sold. So you have to get them to open up quickly, handle their objections, and talk about what is important to them. Good presentation and communication skills will help you listen to the customer better and address their direct needs. Learn how to make that connection in a compelling way so people see you as authentic and sincere not "salesy."
Project Manager - As a project manager you are in charge with the scope of a project. This often means that you have to present to senior management on how a project is going or if you even think the project can be done the way they want it done. You may be tasked with working with people that don't directly report to you so you have to motivate them to want to work with you. You may also be a contractor and people may see you as the outsider in this case you need to be able to raise their trust, respect, and accountability when you don't have the "manager" title behind you. We will show you how to present your technical information in a fun and exciting way whilst at the same time getting your message across with impact.
Marketing - In marketing it is all about the message you create. Many people in marketing have a lot of creativity that can sometimes make their presentation too complicated to follow. So how do you get your message across simply and make it easy to follow? How do you make sure that your marketing materials are compelling so that the sales people use them all the time? How do you create a presentation that your sales team will love to use rather than one they roll their eyes at? Learn how to create a compelling message that is easy to embrace during the Communicating Magnificently workshop.
Managers - As a manager you have to listen to what your employees needs are, motivate them to work better, coach them on what they need to change, and communicate the company message in a way your team can grasp and run with it. You can often feel like you are in a dance between upper management and your employees' needs. You can run in to turf wars between departments and individuals. This can often be one of the most gruelling and yet rewarding jobs. You have to be able to get your stuff done in about 30% of the time so that 70% of the time is open for your team. It is all about presenting things so you achieve the balance and control necessary to drive your area forward. It is about creating the right dynamics and team atmosphere.
Financial Field - So often in finance you are called upon to go over facts and figures or to share why something is off financially. This tends to lead to presentations that can feel boring and too technical. We will show you how to present your facts and figures so people can quickly grasp them and or move to action. You will learn how to challenge people without being seen as the person who always says "no."
IT -The IT world is filled with numbers, tests, project analysis and other data that many people do not understand. Often people cannot understand why the network fails or why projects take so long. This leaves you on the defence to explain to other people what may be mystifying. You need to be able to speak clearly, distinctly, and relate what you are saying to something they can grasp. You need them to respect your judgment and realise that you are trying to get the project done in a timely manner and correctly.
I don't have a problem with formal presentations but I do have a problem answering questions in meetings, getting senior management to listen to me, and motivating my staff. But those aren't presentation problems, are they?
Communication is all about getting the response you want. If you are not getting the response you want, then your communication is not working. This means that at ALL TIMES people must process and assimilate your communication in a clear, concise, and easy way. We will teach you how to set up your audience’s neurological filters before they delete, distort and generalise your communication.
The problems described above are all communication and presentation problems. During this workshop we will show you how to communicate in a way that is easy to follow whether you are talking to a senior executive, a teammate, or an employee. People won’t be motivated if they don't understand what you have told them to do. Senior management is not going to take action on what you say if they don't view you as a leader.
I really don't have two days to take off work for a workshop. Do you have a one-day program I can attend?
Years ago we had a choice to make: run programs in small time blocks or go with programs that make lasting behavioural changes.
We opted to do lasting behavioural changes and being the Gourmet of Communication and Presentation Skills rather than the quick fix. Let's face it; you have been building your style of communicating for years so why would you believe a program would change all that in one day?
Even two days is tight. I tell people that the two-days gives you the insight on what you need to change, the tools to make the changes, an opportunity to try your new learning and you develop the skills as you PRACTICE.
The people who come to our programs are looking to learn not just how to give a presentation, but rather how to communicate with people at all levels with clarity and impact, resulting in a presentation or communication that inspires and motivates the audience to take action.
We don’t do a "quick fix" on presenting but instead give you a Gourmet approach to communicating and presenting so you can quickly adapt to any situation that comes up. Gourmet chefs learn how to make two basic soup stocks and two basic sauce recipes. They then learn how to mix spices and ingredients in those two simple sets of recipes to create magnificent culinary feats. We teach you the same thing during Communicating Magnificently.
As part of our commitment to the support and imbedding of our training we offer all delegates a post event support service where you can email or telephone us to discuss or clarify the learning and or specific application, this service is FREE.
Why be a mediocre presenter when you can become a Magnificent Communicator?
I have a team that gives presentations. I feel like they design the presentation in PowerPoint and just read it! The audience falls asleep. Can you help them?
One of the things that is fun for groups is to see how Steve customises the learning for their industry, their role, and their message. We guarantee that what you learn will turn around how you view communication, presentations, and negotiations. You will be coached by an expert in the field rather than a facilitator. This program is all about helping you create the change you want so you have the impact you desire.
How will I learn all this in just 2 days?
Communicating Magnificently is different from any other presentation or communication skills training; our focus is on "HOW" you do it.
During the 2-DAY WORKSHOP we will be using and you will be learning some of the leading edge technologies of human communication. Delegates will learn the secrets of communicating magnificently with a mixture of group discussion, demonstration and practical exercises designed to stretch your behavioural flexibility.
So what if I attend the Communicating Magnificently Workshop, what then?
Imagine you’re about to make the most important presentation of your life, you look out into the audience and within minutes you have a sense of overwhelming rapport. You are calm, centred, balanced and completely in control, you deliver your presentation with fun, energy, enthusiasm, poise and grace. Following the presentation you receive your well-deserved applause, several people approach you to shake your hand and thank you for an outstanding presentation. As you leave the room you hear people talking about what a charismatic presenter you are. Is it just a dream? NO –that’s Communicating Magnificently!
Delegate’s feedback after attending the Communicating Magnificently Workshop
General Comment
My early views on what I can only describe as a course living up to its name in magnificence. Certainly the best course I have been on for a long time.
I thought the course was magnificent, the presenter inspiring. A big thank you for sending me on this course.
My overall impression was that it was very interesting, and 2 days well spent. I have come away with more useful learning points than any other training events I have attended.
I came away feeling the 2 days had been a very good investment in both the company's and my time (what proportion of training events provide that?).
The course as I am sure you would expect, was excellent. Steve certainly has perfected a magnificent product.
Highlights
Understanding, in a blinding flash, why I have never found a foolproof method of communication that works well for everyone, until NOW.
Understanding the concept of everyone seeing their own world through their own eyes and being visual, auditory, etc. type people and matching to build rapport.
Understanding why the people I have seen and remember as good communicators are so good and how they achieve it.
The introductions of personal elements to a presentation, which help, build rapport with the audience.
The pace and enthusiasm. The examples, the demonstrations, the use of video and a bucket full of tools and techniques to use in all situations.
Awareness of the presenter state and variations of personal style needed to appeal to a wider audience.
As a specific, the preferred states that individuals have, and the linkage to Eye Accessing Cues.
Many of the other tools and techniques offered, opportunities to practice and then receive feedback, highlighting personal development, observing variations in style and how I developed and improved over the two days.
The whole thing was a life changing experience I can't fault it to be honest, the message is effectively communicated, and let's face it, you can't ignore this stuff, it's in your face every day, I love it.
Finally, and most enlightening, being able to try "risky" changes of style in a safe environment.
Delivery
The presenter is excellent, pitched the level very well, humorous, highly entertaining and motivational.
Steve Lawlor is very charismatic and I found his style kept me interested throughout. He had loads of energy and enthusiasm, Excellent!
Steve was enthusiastic and encouraging, and facilitated us well both as a group and as individuals. He lived what he preached, which provided real time reinforcement of the learning. His "metaphors" were spot on.
The second day built on the first and Steve continued to come across as a very competent Coach.
How much of what you have learn't will you use?
I've already started; lots of tips from small to large just want to practice.
All of it, the issue is about turning this learning into useable skills, which will take personal application and practice, only I can do that, can’t wait to get started.
Setting up a rapport by mirroring is my weakest area. I can see it being done every time (R.A.S works wonderfully).
I think at least 70% if not more. The handout book is succinct and a useful aide memoir.
As a team leader and Project Manager dealing with many audiences, I believe I can use all of these techniques with practice. Obviously, they will not change my introvert nature to that of rampant extravert, (The greatest revelation I had during the 2 days was understanding how beliefs are formed and that some of my beliefs are empowering and some are limiting, they are my beliefs and I can choose to change them if I want! Maybe my last comment is a limiting belief I need to challenge?) Over the past two days I have learnt a lot about myself and I now know why I had problems communicating sometimes. I believe the tools I have learnt will make me a more effective presenter, communicator and human being.
